Jury selection for an eight-week trial begins Monday. things).Īnyways, appreciate any advice on this matter.LOS ANGELES (AP) - Five years after women’s stories about him made the #MeToo movement explode, Harvey Weinstein is going on trial in the city where he once was a colossus at the Oscars.Īlready serving a 23-year sentence for rape and sexual assault in New York, the 70-year-old former movie mogul faces different allegations including several that prosecutors say occurred during a pivotal Oscar week in Los Angeles. But sometimes it will happen in a sim with just a few people, and I know attachments can add to things in a sim (or maybe they don't and that's just one of those b.s. Kind of like if you're playing a real game and the screen freezes, but knowing it will eventually come back. This mostly happens if I am in a sim with 30-40 people, and things will just freeze, to the point where I can't really use the other windows. I don't know what that is, is that just "lag" is that something else? Is that something that happens to others, or is it just me, is it related to Firestorm? But what annoys me more is that the screen will "blink" in and out several times, even though FPS will show it being like 90 or something like that. I use Firestorm, and a lot of times, it's not so much that it gets laggy, I mean it does, I do see FPS drop and go back up. Kind of a related question, because while I wasn't necessarily going to think about upgrading the CPU/Graphics Card strictly for SL, it did get me thinking of some issues I do have, that I am guessing OP and others here might be able to help with. ![]() Till then, be patient and keep an eye out for some overkill secondhand hardware at amazing prices after xmas. (Just porting the viewers opengl code to vulkan will not make SL appreciably faster) We're all stuck waiting hoping that LL will maybe someday possibly upgrade the viewers entire asset processing and render pipeline to use multiple cores and a more modern rendering api, like vulkan. But really, we're just painting the dumptruck different shades of red. It will do it's best and your new GPU will be bored.Īll SL viewers (ALL OF THEM) are based on the same OpenGL render engine as shipped by Linden Lab, some third party viewers tweak things to be extra pretty or slightly faster or smoother. If you're shopping for a graphics card and use other 3D games/applications, wait for the 30 series and buy the best you can justify for those. The SL viewer will almost never use more than 1.5GB of VRAM (and you have to use a third party viewer to even get that). Will the massive amounts of extra VRAM help? No. which probably equates to a couple of extra fps. Will a 3080 run SL faster than a 2080/1660/xxxxx? Yes, but only by a few extra percent at best. ![]() ![]() It wont run any faster, it wont look any better, none of the fancy RTX magic can be used. It doesn't matter how many cores your CPU has, SL will max out one core (and maybe misuse a second with no actual performance gains if you mess-up your settings). That is to say, your CPU caps the speed at which Second Life can render.
